Statement of the Board of the Transatlantic Alumni Network
Brussels, 28 February 2022
The images and news coming from invaded Ukraine are heart breaking.
Our Alumni community stands in full support with the Ukrainian People, residents and citizens. We strongly believe that war and suffering of innocent people doesn’t have a place in the 21st century.
Our thoughts, today, are also with those, among our Alumni, who are in Ukraine right now, or who have connections to the region.
We are witnessing an attack not only on Ukraine, but also to international peace and the rule of law and order.
At the same time, we are grateful for the mobilization of the vast majority of the international community to provide humanitarian support today and in the weeks and months to come.
By virtue of the values that unite us, and the values we believe are the basis of civil coexistence based on the tolerance of diversity, equity, dialogue and respect of fundamental human rights, we condemn the Russian aggression directed at Ukraine and hope that diplomacy and dialogue will once again be the guiding light in these critical times.
